Bookoff McAndrews is proud to announce the election of three attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1, 2020. Our new partners and longstanding BoMc attorneys, Elizabeth Shah, Jameson Ma, and Jessica Winchester, have been key contributors to the firm’s success and identity. They have helped shape the culture of our firm and have been instrumental in the firm’s growth.

“We are very excited to have Jessica, Elizabeth, and Jameson join the partnership” says Les Bookoff. “They have all shown an incredible enthusiasm for client service and a genuine commitment to making our firm an enjoyable and rewarding place. Each one has excelled in leadership roles both within the firm and in the greater professional community.”

Elizabeth Shah works collaboratively with companies to generate patent strategies that further their business goals. She helps start-up and established companies tailor their patent filings to protect developing products, to block against competitor design-arounds, and to stage their portfolios for monetization. When companies are deciding whether to move forward with investments, acquisitions, licenses, or collaborations, she provides counsel and conducts due diligence analyses to inform their decision-making processes. She also investigates the competitive landscape to inform future development strategies, providing patentability, freedom-to-operate, validity, noninfringement, and clearance opinions when needed.

Jameson Ma works intimately with his clients to develop patent strategies tailored to meeting their business objectives. Jameson never gives advice in a vacuum, but rather with a deep understanding of his client’s technology, budget, and competitive landscape. To that end, Jameson helps startups and Fortune 100 companies alike develop intellectual property to protect their market share. Jameson also help his clients mitigate risk by analyzing competitor IP, and challenging competitor patents via post-grant proceedings at the USPTO. Jameson also represents his clients in licensing negotiations and other adverse proceedings outside of the USPTO.

Jessica Winchester advises companies on patent procurement, patent portfolio analysis, and contentious proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Jessica has experience in a wide array of technologies including computer and software technology, fluid pumps, Green Technology applications, medical devices, heavy equipment systems, consumer products, healthcare IT, food industry, vehicle acoustics, and agricultural and industrial machinery. Jessica has worked hand-in-hand with inventors and companies to mine technologies and develop strong patent portfolios aimed at advancing business goals including securing market exclusivity. She has experience collaborating with companies of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 500 companies, to cultivate valuable protection for their innovations and secure business advantage.
