Biography

As a neuroscience researcher turned registered patent attorney, Sima leverages an interdisciplinary technical background and experience in patent litigation to build strong patent portfolios in a dynamic legal landscape. Sima has worked with a variety of clients, from large global companies to funded startups, and tailors patent strategies to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Prior to joining BoMc, Sima was an attorney specializing in biotechnology patent law at an international general practice law firm. Representing early- and mid-stage start-up companies, Sima handled performing due diligence, freedom-to-operate searching, patent preparation and examination, and managing global patent portfolios. Before that, Sima was an attorney at a patent boutique where her practice included patent litigation, trademark litigation, trademark registration, and patent prosecution across different industries, including big molecule therapeutics, medical devices, and software.

During law school, Sima represented the University of Pittsburgh in the Giles S. Rich Moot Court Competition, proceeding beyond the regional stage to become a national quarter-finalist. In her free time, Sima volunteers with Patent Pathways, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting diversity in patent law.
