Washington, DC (May 1, 2013) – Bookoff McAndrews is pleased to announce that Dinesh Melwani has been elected to partner effective May 1, 2013.  Mr. Melwani brings over 11 years of patent experience to a vibrant practice in which he counsels numerous Fortune 500 companies and start-ups.   He joined Bookoff McAndrews in August 2012 as an associate, after practicing for over 8 years at a large, global intellectual property law firm in Washington, DC.  He started his legal career as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.  In addition, Mr. Melwani has served as an adjunct professor of Patent Law at the Howard University School of Law and is frequently asked to speak on patent law issues at industry conferences.

Mr. Melwani’s practice focuses on managing the patent portfolios for corporations of all sizes, assisting clients evaluate potential acquisitions, conducting due diligence investigations, and developing licensing strategies.  He is experienced in U.S. district court litigation, European Patent Office opposition proceedings, and contentious proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, including interference and post-issuance proceedings.  While his practice includes all mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, he has particular expertise in medical device technologies.
