Incorporating Belonging into our Everyday Conversation

Cultivating a sense of belonging for every individual at the firm is important to us at BoMc. It is discussed on a regular basis amongst our partners, our managers, and our various committees. Our leaders set the example by practicing it everyday. The result is a wonderfully caring and empathetic team.

Neurological Tug-of-War: Understanding Our Brain's Confirmation Bias (November 19, 2024)

Leadership coach, Megan Akatu, spoke with the BoMc team about confirmation bias. Specifically, how confirmation bias can affect decision making, how it generally shows up in the workplace, and how to mitigate it. She elaborated on how successful and inclusive corporate cultures are built on interrupting these patterns while creating a culture that nurtures debate and empowers many voices.

Cultivating a Culture of Inclusion (November 13, 2023)

Rebecca Hershey of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) returned to speak to us about how to build and maintain an inclusion of culture. We learned how implicit bias shows up and affects decision-making, ending with practical tips for navigating oppression tension in a group.

In this presentation, Rebecca Hershey of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) came to speak to us about how to build and maintain an inclusion of culture. We discussed how to understand and commit to our responsibilities as leaders. We learned about unconscious bias and how to make the unconscious conscious to check our biases and grow.

Happy Hour and Community Service (July 28, 2023)

The IDEA Committee sponsored a happy hour and community service event preparing donation packages for Mission D.C. which seeks to provide safe shelter, hot meals, medical care, job training, and compassionate care to transform lives in the Washington D.C., metropolitan area.
