Karin Benavides’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, client counseling, and due diligence. She has technical experience in the fields of medical devices, mechanical systems, mobile applications, consumer products and services, food science and packaging, and materials. Karin has assisted clients of all sizes, from single inventors to Fortune 500 companies, in developing robust patent portfolios – both domestically and internationally.

Before joining BoMc, Karin was an associate in the Mechanical group of an IP boutique firm also located in Washington, DC. During law school, Karin interned in the legal department of a defense, aerospace, and security company, where she worked directly with both inventors and in-house counsel to procure patents and develop IP strategies.


  • Represented a multinational manufacturer of medical and aesthetic equipment in U.S. patent procurement. Helped to obtain several patents which were successfully enforced at the ITC.
  • Assisted a sustainable materials startup company in reframing prosecution strategy to help expand its domestic and foreign patent portfolio.
